Islamabad: the folk festival knows as ‘Loke Mela’ will start from tomorrow, Friday 15th November till 24th November at shakarparian under the guidance of national institute of folk and tradition heritage in Islamabad.
- The main features include provincial culture pavilions, artisans at work, folk songs and dance performance, exotic crafts bazar, culture nights, folkloric performance and many other activates.
- The Lok Mela festival will start from Friday 15 November till 24 of this month, 10 am to 10 pm daily.
The ten day long festival gives an opportunity to the residents of twin cities to experience the color and witness the diverse culture of Pakistan.
The festival will formally open with Chaddaerposhi ceremony, which is a way of announcing Lok Virsa’s commitment to the high stature that craftspeople and folk artists have in the culture mainstream of the nation. This year one established master craftswoman and one male folk artist will be honored with chaddarposhi by chief guest.
Culture departments of all provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu Kashmir have been invited to set up pavilions presenting their folk culture and tradition cuisine.
The festival will conclude with a colorful award ceremony scheduled to take place on the last day of festival. Cash awards will be distributed among the most talented and deserving artisans on the recommendations of a national jury constituted for the purpose in full view of the national media.
The male entry ticket will be rupees 50 per head.
