Pakistan Post would be introducing debit cards for the pensioners next month. Pensioners who get money via Pakistan Post would no longer have to stand in the long lines outside the banks for collecting their dues as the national postal service is thinking on the lines of introducing a debit card facility for them.
As per a key official of the postal service on Tuesday, the step was taken after many complaints emerged from the pensioners.
After the month of December, the retired employees of Pakistan Post and the heirs of the deceased ones would be able to gather their pensions from any nearby ATM, all thanks to the debit card facility.
The pension lines were a long-awaiting one as pensioners in their old age had to stand in long lines for gathering their pensions from the post offices.
He mentioned that the facility would not end the grievances of pensioners but would also be boosting the revenue by reducing on the count of ghost pensioners.
He thanked the Postal Services Minister Murad Saeed for the successful launch of this project within 3 months of the announcement. The announcement was made back in the month of October last year, on the occasion of the World Post Day.
On the downside, the retired employees are excited with the latest development as it would be saving their time, money and energy they had to invest in getting their pensions.
While reacting on the service, one of the older employees said that the debit card facility would save energy and time as he had to travel from a long distance every month for pension collection.
