The Punjab government prolonged schools ‘ winter holidays on Monday due to the ongoing cold wave.
A letter from the provincial Department of School Education told all public and private schools in the province that they would re-open on 13 January.
“In the wake of weather conditions, the winter vacations are hereby extended with effect from Jan 7, 2020 to Jan 12, 2020 in all public and private schools in Punjab,” read the notification.
The notification was forwarded to all the divisions and deputy commissioners of the province and other officials of the provincial government.
On December 13, the Punjab government announced 15 days of winter break throughout the province.
From December 20, 2019 to January 5, 2020, all public and private schools throughout Punjab were on winter holidays. However, before the most recent extension, the vacation was later extended to 7 January.
