A Instagram spokesperson said that it would help companies, influencers and anyone who ships several DMs.
He said users can start new groups or talk with someone on the DM screen or profile page, share images from the desktop and show the number of unread messages via the new device
Responding to a question, the spokesperson said that DMs on the web help its users “stay in touch with the people you care about.”
In a tweet, Instagram’s CEO Adam Mosseri said that he hopes to “bring this to everyone soon” once the kinks are worked out.
