New Hajj Policy Likely in Last Week of January: Official

Applications for securing berth for Hajj 2020 would be received starting the first week in February, the Minister of Religions and Interfaith Harmony official said Monday here. The new Hadj policy is being announced in the last week of January.

In addressing the APP, he said the Hajj package this year is likely to be half a million rupees per person

The reasons why Hajj’s spending was increased were an increase in Riyal-Rupee’s parity, the increase in insurance premiums, visa charges, value added tax (VAT), the rise in Maktab fees, the rise in property rentals for Makkah and Madina, and the increase of airlines to Hajj fair.

He told him that the private and state quota would be kept at 40%, with sharing important features of the new Hajj scheme.

The applicants of over 80 years age would be selected without any balloting

In order to obtain Hajj applications from the government system, the ministry has placed strict conditions on banks. At least 250 branches across the nation should be eligible banks.

In Sharia accounts, the dues of Hujjaj should be preserved. This year, more than 200,000 Pakistanis are going to play Hajj.

In order to increase the Pakistan quota and to begin the Makkah Project, the Saudi Government was contacted from provincial capitals. The project at Islamabad International Airport was carried out successfully last year.

The immigration and other Pakistani formalities in Islamabad airport were carried out, thus saving the people from long queues in favor of immigration at the airport of Jeddah.

He asked the applicants interested in applying for Hajj to ensure having Machine Readable Passport with maximum expiry date of February 1, 2021, a valid Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC), should know about their blood group.
