Tezgam Incident Occurred Due to Short Circuit: Report Exposes Lies of Railways Officials

Lies told by Pakistan railways officials were exposed in a report stating that Tezgam was a short-circuit incident and not a cylinder blow, according to Dunya News.

The Pakistan Railways deputy Divisional Superintendent and Divisional Commercial Officer Karachi have been held responsible for the tragedy, whereas the Hyderabad and Khanpur Railway Police SHOs have been convicted of negligence.

It is important that, when 3 carriages of Tezgam Express caught fire at Liaquatpur, in the Liaquatpur region of Rahim Jar Khan, at least 75 passengers lost their lives and more than 40 suffered serious burn wounds. The train was connected to Rawalpindi from Karachi.

Flashes were shown in TV footage from the wagons when people could be heard crying. Several passengers died as they jumped from the moving train to avoid fire, and several were injured.

Afterwards, the railways officials had claimed that the fire erupted due to explosion in gas canisters purportedly used by Tableeghi Jamaat passengers to cook breakfast.
