Six service areas and three petrol pumps are planned for travelers by the National Highway Authority (NHA) on the Multan-Suchkur Motorway (M-5).
The officers heard the correspondence of Hidayat Ullah in the chair from the Senate. The committee was informed that the reaction of travellers to the M-Tag facility was not acceptable since it was not refilled, they were in the wrong queues and crowded the machining area. Reports were given that the construction work would take 2 months.
The chairman of the Committee suggested that the M-Tag holder be encouraged to improve the facility. The Committee also stated that the Motorway service areas were selling low-standard and costly food items.
The NHA officers informed the committee, but it is the responsibility of deputy commissioners to impose fines to the violators upon the receipt of their complaints.
The NHA chairman informed the body that the poor sanitary conditions in the Rashakai service area were only 12 bathrooms, where most of the visitors stayed because it is the main point between Peshawar and Islamabad.
The deal between the contractor will expire on 30 June and afterwards, the new contract will include additional bathrooms with other improvements.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Jehanzeb Jamaldini, Lt Gen (Retd) Salahuddin Tirmizi, Bahramand Khan Tangi, Mir Muhammad Yousaf Badini and other officials concerned.
