The Transportation and Roads Authority (RTA) has performed test runs for electric cars and buses while traveling without payload. Under a 60-meter stretch of a highway in Dubai Silicon Oasis power grids have been built.
The tests have been carried out using the Shaped Magnetic Field In Resonance (SMFIR) technology.
Officials say they’ve had promising results compared to the conventional cable charging system. The initiative will ensure seamless operations as the vehicles won’t have to stop at charging stations.
However, there are no immediate plans to implement the system on a permanent basis as the technology is still evolving.
Ahmed Bahrozyan, CEO of the RTA’s Public Transport Agency shared the details with ARN News.
