Aurat March Banned by Lahore High Court

Advocate Azhar Siddiqui filed a petition stating, “Prima facie the Aurat March is misleading and an attempt failed to raise serious problems which women are all faced.” Mamoon Mamoon Rashid Sheikh, LHC leader issued the petition directives.

On the 8th of March there is International Women’s Day. Every year on this day a campaign is organized. On this day, the petitioner argued that hundreds of women would gather with posters showing popularity and anarchy.

Azhar Siddiqui also stated that the main objective of celebrating International Women’s day is to praise women for their success and achievements. He added that the purpose of remembering the day is to show solidarity with the women facing issues such as cruelty, discrimination, domestic violence, and ignorance.

In addition to this, Azhar Siddiqui further said in his petition that “there are various anti-state parties present who are funding this March with the sole purpose of spreading anarchy amongst the masses”.

The petitioner then requested the court to consider the acts mentioned in the petition to “silence the advertisement of Aurat March on social media and to regulate protests such as the Aurat March”
