As the Indus Motor Company (IMC) prepares to launch this year the all-new Toyota Yaris in Pakistan, the 12th generation Corolla may also be launched in 2021. Remember, the car is already in Thailand and now is the time to introduce the car in Pakistan. This should be noted here.
The arrival of Yaris is creating a window for Toyota to differentiate it from Corolla as both sedans will target different segments of the customers. Introducing the 12th generation will also help the company provide good competition to the new entrants and the existing players in the market.
Toyota will launch 1.8L (138bhp) and 1.6L (120bhp) variants in Pakistan for Corolla as 1.3L, and 1.5L displacements will now come under the umbrella of Yaris. In Thailand, Toyota also launched a 1.8L hybrid engine Corolla as well to capture the growing demand for fuel-efficient and environment-friendly cars.
The exterior design of the 12th-gen Corolla is called “shooting robust” by Toyota. Therefore, the exterior design has solid, sharp, and sleek lines. The interior, on the other hand, has a clean and wide design that offers practicality and spaciousness to its occupants.
This generation of Corolla is based on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA), which adds a lower center of gravity for better handling and rigidity in the body frame of the car. As far as the exterior is concerned, it resembles a bit with its elder sibling, Camry. The front grille is also bigger than the outgoing model, and the roofline is rounded to give an elegant look to the sedan. The side mirrors integrate the turn signal, and they automatically fold.
There is a 7-speed CVT-i gearbox with the sequential shift in the Thai models. Some of the features that we can expect locally are LED Daytime Running Lights, smart entry, LED rear lamps, 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, 17-Inch alloy wheels, push-start ignition, automatic air conditioning system, auto-dimming rearview mirror, electronic parking brake, rear air vents, auto-brake hold, and a rear sunshade.
