In Islamabad, authorities have agreed to disinfect and bleach the city to sterilise in order to avoid coronavirus spread.
The sterilisation drive will include the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI), the Capital Development Authority (CDA), and Islamabad.
All hospitals, quarantine centres and shelter homes would be sanitised including the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), where the operation would commence today.
The MCI staff, including 30 water tankers and fire engines, would participate in the operation.
Islamabad administrator Sheikh Ansar Aziz said that the purpose of the sanitisation operation is to limit the spread of the deadly pathogen in the city.
“Every possible step would be taken to protect the citizens of Islamabad from the deadly outbreak,” the administrator said. Jinnah Supermarket, F10, G10, Melody centre and major trade centres would be sprayed tomorrow.
“All major highways of the city including the Expressway, Murree Road, Jinnah Avenue, 7th Avenue, and Kashmir Highway will also be sterilised with spray,” Aziz added. “The Metropolitan Corporation will ensure citizens’ safety by utilising all its resources.”
