Electricity Bill Deadline Extended by Federal Govt

The federal government has extended the electricity bills payment deadline in the country to 7 April. t The decision is praised as a big relief in the lock-up  due to coronaviruses, as people will no longer have to worry about the late payment surcharge.

In its notification, all distribution companies (DISCOs) have been asked to pass on the information to their consumers. It says that the consumers have been relieved due to the countrywide lockdown amid coronavirus outbreak.

Meanwhile, the K-Electric, in a separate announcement last week, extended the billing date for the month of March, until April 10. However, it only applies to bills below Rs. 4,000.

KE management has also suspended the on-site meter reading practice due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic as it was necessary for the safety of both its employees and customers.

This month, the company will calculate the bills of its residential and commercial customers based on their average number of units consumed. It says the decision is in line with the directive of NEPRA.
