Guidelines for “Rations” Distribution Issued by Govt

Karachi Commissioner Shallwani, in two new administrative orders, has released ration distribution guidelines, enabling bakeries to operate in the city from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Throughout the lock-out program, the commissioner provided standard operating procedures (SOPs) for rations being given to the needy families. In the Sindh government ration packs, 10 kilograms of flour container, 5 kg of rice, two kilograms of sugar, 2 liters of cooking pulse, spices, grams of spice and one packet of salt will be included.

“Only house to house distribution will be made from 5am to 7am or late night.” The distribution would be made on an equitable basis focusing on the poorest union councils, needy or underprivileged segments of the society.

The commissioner also directed all the supermarkets and superstores to strictly follow the social distancing guidelines. “No joyriding is allowed, and anyone coming out of their house must have a valid reason,” according to the order issued on Friday. The order further allowed home deliveries and takeaways of any sort.
