Suspected Covid-19 Patient Commits Suicide in a Karachi Hospital

Suicide was committed by a suspected patient with coronavirus in Karachi after being held in the isolated ward without disease confirmation.

In accordance with the information, on Sunday night a resident of Landhi was brought with fever and chest pain complaints to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC). As per the standard procedure, he was tested for the virus while his X-rays were also taken before being shifted to the isolation ward.

The man spent the night protesting against the move, claiming that he did not have the contagious virus.

According to JPMC Executive Director Dr Seemin Jamali, the victim was suffering from lungs disease and his coronavirus test, which was conducted on Sunday, was negative.

Doctors said that the man was a drug addict and he apparently ended his life due to the unavailability of drugs.

She added that he was admitted to Ward 23 of the hospital. He broke the window and jumped out of the window. He was taken to the emergency ward where he succumbed to his injuries.

She explained that the man committed suicide because he did not get the drug, and not because of the hospital’s negligence.
