Pakistani Molecular Virologist’s Contribution Ranked No.1 on Google Scholar

Dr Muhammad Mukhtar’s scientific contribution ‘Antiviral Potentials of Medicinal Plants’ has been ranked as number one by the Google Scholar. If you search ‘Antiviral Plants’ his contribution will come up as number one amongst a whopping 234,000 worldwide scientific contributions to the field. The notion revolves around medicinal plants and their by products for the use in treatment of viral infection.

 

The article is jointly authored by Pakistani and American scientists but Dr Muhammad Mukhtar remains the principal author. The article ranked as number one on Google Scholar ensues the importance and potential of plant derived constituents and their properties in the treatment of viral infections.

But their usefulness should be established through conventional or modern drug discovery practices. The article further describes potential antiviral properties of medicinal plants against diverse group of viruses, and suggests screening the potential of plants possessing broad spectrum antiviral effects against emerging viral infections.

 

Besides this, Pakistani virologist, Dr Mukhtar is also a recipient of an outstanding scientist visa (O-1 visa) award from the U.S government for his contributions pertaining to understanding the passage of viruses into the human brain.
