PTDC Decides to Close Operations and lay off Employees

The Pakistan Tourism Development Authority (PTDC) has decided to close its operations across the country and lay off employees.

PTDC employees are protesting against the decision taken by the department.

According to the notification issued regarding closure of operations and dismissal of employees, PTDC has closed its northern operations.

It said the decision to close the operation and lay off employees was prompted by continued financial losses due to a drop in tourist activity during the Corona epidemic.

According to the PTDC notification, the decision to dismiss the employees has been taken by the federal government and the PTDC board.

Retired employees can collect dues from the concerned managers, the notification said.

Employees said that more than 30 PTDC hotels across the country have been shut down, adding that PTDC has sacked 400 employees in one fell swoop.

He said that majority of the retiring employees had been associated with PTDC for the last 20 years
