Pakistan Becomes the Newest and Permanent Member Youth Council of Shanghai Cooperation Council

The office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs shared that Pakistan is proud to become the newest member of the Shanghai Cooperation Council’s (SCO) Youth Council.

The Foreign Office Spokesperson said, “Special Assistant to Prime Minister Usman Dar represented Pakistan in the Council’s meeting last year as an Observer. We look forward to actively participating in #SCO Youth Council’s activities & making effective contribution.”

Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Youth Affairs, Usman Dar said that Pakistan has become a permanent member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Youth Council.

“Pakistani youth will now be able to represent their country at the SCO Youth Council meetings and its exchange programs,” Dar said in a video message on Twitter. He said that the Pakistani youth will also take part in the skill development programs of the SCO Youth Council.

Pakistan has been able to get the permanent membership of the council due to all-out efforts made by the central government over the last two years, and Prime Minister Imran Khan’s personal interest and initiatives for the youth, he said.

SAPM said Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs played a vital role in achieving this important membership.

According to Xinhua News Agency, experts in the country believe that the membership will give Pakistani youth access to the international opportunities and empower them socially and economically. The council will also assist young members to find employment and business opportunities in various sectors across the world, they said.
