Attention! Social Media and Internet Users to Avoid Uploading/Sharing Unlawful Content Warring Issued by PTA

PTA (Pakistan Telecommunication Authority) has issued the public notice to grab the attentions of social media and internet users to avoid  uploading/sharing unlawful content.

Propagating unlawful / contemptuous content on internet / social media / instant messaging applications etc. is an offence and punishable under Prevention of Electronics Crimes Act (PECA) 2016.

Avoid uploading & sharing the content related to the following:

  • Immoral and Indecent
  • Glorification of an Offence
  • Sacrilegious
  • Hate Speech
  • Fake News / Defamation
  • Child Pornography
  • And others offences under section 37 of PECA 2016

For blocking / removing of any such unlawful content as prescribed under section 37 of PECA, the same should be reported to PTA at:

Any person aggrieved due to blocking of content by PTA can lodge review application within 30 days of blocking/removal order under Section 37(4) of PECA-2016.
