Shooting of Films and Dramas Banned in Mosques and Shrines

In this regard, the Punjab Endowment Department has issued a notification of rules and regulations. According to the notification, no scenes will be allowed to be shoot on any woman in shrines and mosques under the auspices of the endowment department.

The notification further said that if any scene was filmed on mosques or shrines, the concerned manager and zonal administrator would be held responsible.

In addition, permission for a documentary film on a mosque or shrine will be subject to consultation with the Department of Religious Affairs. 544 shrines and 437 mosques are under the management of the Endowment Department.

It is to be noted that after the recording of the music video at the Wazir Khan Mosque in Lahore by actress Saba Qamar and singer Bilal Saeed, there was an uproar on social media and people criticized both of them for violating the sanctity of the mosque. Later, Saba Qamar and Bilal Saeed apologized for recording the video in the mosque.
