Pakistan’s first bloodless and inexpensive dialysis system was invented by a respectable bio-medical firm. This helps to facilitate kidney patients and also prevent the spread of the current system’s hepatitis C problem.
More than 72 per cent patients diagnosed with renal failure are infected with hepatitis C owing to local conditions and poor hygiene levels.
However, the spokesperson of the reputed biomedical company stated that this machine is one of a kind and designed by Pakistani-American innovator, Farrukh Usman and his team.
This isn’t Farrukh’s first ingenious inventions, he has previously worked on insulin pumps, artificial pancreas (closed loop insulin delivery system and robotic assisted minimally invasive surgical equipment.
However, this is a huge development that will immensely help kidney failure patients by providing access to a dialysis machine that is affordable, painless as well as portable. Besides saving significant amount of money, this machine will also enable patients to get their treatment done at the comfort of their homes without effecting their quality of life.
Farrukh told The News, that this machine will also help lessen burden on the public healthcare system and reduce the likelihood of contracting hepatitis C.
