Meteorological officials say downpours in Karachi have shattered an eighty-nine year old record. A whopping 484 mm of rain has fallen in August with no end in sight. On Thursday alone the metropolitan city received 223.5mm of rain. But this is just the blip on the radar.
People are dying, some are stuck with no access to food and clean drinking water and others are fighting to save their homes and businesses.
The city is in crisis. Roads are broken, gutters are overflowing, improper drainage system is just the tip of the iceberg. People are requesting authorities not to restore their electricity for fear of electrocution. The infrastructure is in shambles and the city is crying for help.
