The price of electricity is likely to increase by Rs 98 per unit. The increase will be decided on September 30. The increase will be made in the August fuel price adjustment.
According to details, the Central Power Purchasing Agency has submitted a request to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to increase the price of electricity, in which it has been recommended to increase the price of electricity by 98 paise per unit.
The addition will be made in August for fuel price adjustment, NEPRA will decide on September 30 at the request of CPPA.
It may be recalled that at the beginning of this month, an increase of 86 paisa per unit in electricity prices was approved. The increase was made in the case of monthly fuel adjustment.
It may be recalled that Prime Minister Imran Khan while reviewing the reform process for providing cheap electricity to the people had said that the main objective of the reforms is to provide cheap, uninterrupted power to the people.
Imran Khan said that unfortunately in the past no attention was paid to reforms in the power sector, the potential of economic development in the country was not exploited.
