In Punjab province, brick kilns have been shut down at various places as part of smog reduction measures, the administration said, adding that action has been taken against the kiln owners who violated the closure.
According to details, brick kilns were closed from today till December 31 in Tibba Sultanpur town between Multan and Vehari in Punjab province to control smog.
The number of kilns being closed in different areas of Tibba Sultanpur is more than 100. The administration says that action has been taken against the kiln owners violating the closure.
It may be recalled that the problem of smog has intensified in the last two years. Smog is particularly affecting Punjab province in winter.
Smog makes breathing difficult, while a large number of citizens suffer from various medical ailments, including respiratory diseases.
The main cause of smog was the burning of brick kilns and crop residues in Punjab, which led to the temporary closure of brick kilns across the province last year.
It has been decided to keep the brick kilns closed in Punjab from October to December this year as well. It has been decided to form joint teams of institutions before the arrival of smog in the city.
