Industrial Power Tariff Reduced by Rs4.96 per Units for Eight Months

The federal government fulfilled the promise made with the industrial consumers by slashing the power tariff by Rs4.96 per unit, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

Although the incentive will be applicable for just eight months, it is certainly a welcoming move given the fact that the PTI government is notorious for backtracking from earlier pledges made on different issues.

In this regard, the industrial consumers falling under the B-1, B-2 and B-3 categories will be able to take advantage of this package.

So from November 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021, they will have to pay Rs8 only for every per unit of electricity they consume.

Moreover, this special relief package would be applicable to all industrial consumers across the country, including Karachi where the industrialists have been expressing their resentment over the gas supply situation for months.

Also, fuel price adjustment would also be not applied to these power consumers during the abovementioned eight-month period.

In this connection, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has issued the necessary notification.
