Google Play Store Now Keeps you Updated with Apps that are Trending

It looks like some users have started seeing a new icon in Google Play Store that tells you whether an app is trending up or down. As spotted by Phonearena, you can see which app is trending up or not by watching the arrow moving up and moving down in the top app list.

Naturally, an arrow pointing up tells you that the app is trending higher, while the one pointing down tells you that it’s going down in popularity. Although they don’t reveal exactly how many slots the app has moved up or down, but they do help you stay on top of the latest app trends that is catching up with other Android users around the world.

You can check out which app is trending up or down by opening the Google Play Store app and navigating to the top row of tabs > tapping on top charts > tapping on different charts. That section will show you the top apps in selected categories. And there you can see the icons.

However, this new trend indicator icon might not help in making a decision if that app should be installed or not.

On a related note, a few days ago, Google reviewed hundreds of lending apps for their compliance with local laws and regulations before booting multiple apps from its Play Store in the country.

After reviewing “hundreds of personal loan apps” available on the Play Store, Google stated that it “immediately removed” the ones that were found in violation of the company’s user safety policies. These apps were reviewed after they were flagged by users as well as government agencies, the company said.
