On Wednesday, the 56-year-old attended the inauguration in a bright purple outfit by American designers Christopher John Rogers and Sergio Hudson, which she accessorized with a custom pearl necklace by Puerto Rican designer Wilfredo Rosado.
The ensemble bore a striking resemblance to one worn by Lisa Simpson in a 2000 episode of the cartoon — in which a grown-up Lisa is President of the United States.
In the classic episode of The Simpsons, called ‘Bart to the Future,’ Lisa is elected President of the US and wears an outfit that looks a lot like what VP Harris wore yesterday.
Lisa’s look includes a purple blazer, a top with a high collar, and a pearl necklace with matching earrings
Simpsons fans immediately noticed the twinning ensembles and took to Twitter to claim that it’s just another example of the show predicting world events.
‘The Simpsons have done it once again. I think it is safe to say Lisa Simpson predicted Kamala Harris’s inauguration outfit,’ wrote one.
‘Kamala Harris really is Lisa Simpson and I’m all for it,’ said another.
Interestingly enough, The Simpsons also predicted Trump’s presidency, which came before Lisa’s in the fictional timeline.
She tells her staff in the episode: ‘As you know, we’ve inherited quite a budget crunch from President Trump.’
Some Twitter users think that The Simpsons didn’t so much predict Kamala’s vice presidency as inspire her outfit for the big moment.
‘I’m pretty sure Kamala Harris knew EXACTLY what she was doing wearing the outfit she did yesterday,’ wrote one.
‘I refuse to believe that Kamala didn’t do this on purpose. I can’t give the Simpsons that much power,’ said another.
Vice President Harris, who is no doubt busy with matters of state, has no commented on the comparisons.
