Google Meet Now Lets you Check Audio, Video Before Joining a Call

Google has started rolling out a new feature that lets users check their audio and video before joining a Meet call. The new “green room” in Google Meet lets users preview their audio and video, and they can also adjust their lighting and positioning for the call.

The new feature will be visible as a “Check your audio and video” button, and it will appear just before joining a Google Meet call. It will be placed below the call screen, and tapping on it will open the green room. Here, users can choose which microphone, speaker and camera to use and test them out for the Google Meet call.

This can help users identify issues like poor sound quality, muted microphones, and also check if there’s any background noise. Users can also check the impact of noise cancellation on their audio in the green room. This feature will be quite helpful and it can save a lot of time for such issues before starting a meeting.

Google will also display a warning and tips for troubleshooting when a problem is detected. Google recently rolled out its troubleshooting menu in Google Meet through which users can understand how their local desktop and network environments affect the quality of their calls.

The new Google Meet green room feature has started rolling out to Google Workspace Essentials, Business Starter, Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Standard, and Enterprise Plus, as well as G Suite Basic, Business, Education, Enterprise for Education, and Nonprofits customers.
