Authorities in Quetta have sealed off six illegally run Iranian schools.
According to officials, a team from the education department and the district administration, along with security agencies, also recovered unacceptable literature from the schools during the operation.
Assistant Commissioner Quetta (City) Muhammad Zohaib-ul-Haq told Urdu News that the Iranian curriculum was taught instead of the Pakistani curriculum in these schools which were operating without permission in the Karani Road area and adjoining areas of Quetta. The heads of these educational institutions are Iranians, while the teachers also include foreigners.
According to Shabbir Ahmed, Director, Monitoring and Evaluation, Balochistan Education Foundation, “We have received complaints that schools are being run illegally in different parts of Quetta where foreign curriculum is taught.”
Schools had been operating for the past three decades. Hundreds of Pakistani students were taught foreign courses in Persian, which is illegal. These schools had no affiliation with any Pakistani board of education due to which the students here were not eligible to appear for the examinations of Pakistani boards and they did not even get a degree from any Pakistani board.
Assistant Commissioner City Muhammad Zohaib-ul-Haq said that during the operation, “unacceptable” literature was also recovered from the schools, which the security agencies have seized and started investigation.
