The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) says that the oil coming out of the ground in Islamabad is not crude oil, it is a mixture of diesel in the water which is leaking from somewhere.
According to details, a statement issued by OGRA on the issue of underground oil leakage in Islamabad said that according to the report of Hydrocarbon Development Institute, the oil leaked from the groundwater is not crude oil, it is a mixture of diesel in the water which is leaking from somewhere.
It may be recalled that oil was discovered during drilling for boring in H-13 area of the federal capital Islamabad yesterday. After the oil leaked during the drilling, people started filling oil drums while many citizens dug wells to extract oil illegally. They started selling taxes, on which the district administration took strict action.
The administration had sealed off the site on notification and sent samples of ‘oil’ to the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA). It has been informed that OGRA is reviewing the situation
