NCOC Approves Booster Doses for Pakistanis Over 30

Pakistanis over the age of 30 will be able to get a coronavirus booster shot across the country beginning January 1, 2022, according to the National Command and Operation Centre.

The vaccinations will be given to citizens at vaccination clinics across the country. People who have had both of their Covid-19 shots within the last six months are eligible for the booster shot.

The vaccine will be provided at no cost. Booster shots will only be administered by Sinopharm, Sinovac, and Pfizer.

Following the development, these individuals will be eligible for booster shots:

  • People over the age of 30
  • who work in health care and are
  • people with compromised immune systems

The decision was made in response to an increase in cases of the new Omicron variant of the coronavirus. It was first reported in South Africa and has since spread to other countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and Hong Kong.

Last week, NCOC chief Asad Umar announced that covid vaccination has become mandatory in order to protect yourself from the deadly virus. So far, 60 million Pakistanis have been immunized completely against Covid. People have been encouraged by the government to get their second dose as soon as possible.
