OnePlus is the first company to launch a new flagship in 2022, and it is ideal for anyone looking for a smartphone refresh. The company is withholding almost everything (well, almost everything), but that hasn’t stopped leaks and rumors of a 6.7-inch display with high refresh rates and the most recent Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor.
It was followed by plenty of specs on Tuesday evening. They include a 120Hz Fluid AMOLED with LTPO screen, which means the phone’s refresh rates can be adjusted to improve battery life. There are no details on the screen size, but rumors suggest it will be a 6.7-inch display. OnePlus’s new flagship will include 80W fast charging and 50W wireless charging, so it should be sufficiently fast.
The OnePlus 10 Pro will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip and will run Android 12 with OxygenOS tricks and aesthetics from OnePlus. In terms of cameras, expect 48- and 50-megapixel sensors, as well as an additional 8MP sensor. What about optical zoom? Ultrawide?
We don’t know for sure, but the camera array will have dual optical image stabilization, which should help with crisper images, less noise, and better low-light performance. it is also said that the OnePlus 9 Pro’s camera performance was one of the smartphone’s weaker points in an otherwise impressive package. Hopefully, the 10 Pro will correct that error.
The main challenge may be balancing price, specs, and features so that it can compete with Apple and Samsung’s high-end phones.
The OnePlus 10 Pro will first be available in China on Tuesday, January 11th. With that timeline in mind, expect to learn all of the remaining details very soon.
