President Dr. Arif Alvi called on Monday for the development and training of the country’s human resources in emerging technologies such as blockchain technology, artificial intelligence, and cyber security in order to fulfill the demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
He emphasized the importance of raising awareness about the significance and utility of blockchain technology so that both the public and private sectors can benefit from it.
According to a press release, the president expressed these views during a meeting with an international delegation of blockchain experts led by the Founding President of BSV Blockchain Association, James Nguyen, who called on him at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
The president told the delegation that blockchain technology has the potential to be a powerful tool for tracking transactions, reducing corruption, and increasing transparency in the public and private sectors.
He went on to say that a systemic and inclusive approach was required to fully benefit from blockchain technology’s transformative potential and to advance its implementation in Pakistan.
The president praised Pakistan’s technology talent, which had made a name for itself by providing the technical backbone to some of the world’s largest corporations. He emphasized that over the last year, Pakistani start-ups were able to attract valuable international investments in the IT sector.
James Nguyen briefed the meeting on the potential and applications of blockchain technology in a variety of economic sectors, including banking, fin-tech, digital advertising, healthcare, big data, the environment, and governance.
He also informed the meeting about certain BSV Blockchain initiatives in Pakistan.
