Punjab Starts Covid-19 Booster Jabs for People Over 18

The Punjab government decided on Tuesday to reduce the age limit for a Covid-19 booster dose as the fifth wave of the Covid-19 pandemic worsens.

Citizens aged 18 and up, according to the Punjab health department, will be eligible for a booster dose of the vaccine, and those healing from the coronavirus can have booster shots after 28 days.

As booster shots, Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Sinopharm, and Sinovac are available. The Punjab DG of Health has directed all chief executive officers’ health to ensure that vaccines are available at the center.

According to the provincial health department, as many as 49 more people have been found infected with the Omicron variant of Covid-19 in Punjab in the last 24 hours.

According to the report, 37 new cases of this variant were reported in Lahore alone. In Punjab, the number of confirmed cases of the new strain has risen to 511.

In the provincial capital, the positivity rate for Omicron cases has risen to 8.3 percent.
