Samsung Galaxy S22 series Roundup: Design, Specs, Price, & more – what to expect!

With the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S22 series just around the corner, we’ve covered a number of rumors about the upcoming flagship lineup. So, here’s a summary of everything we know so far.

Display and Design

The Galaxy S22 series, the latest flagship series from the South Korean tech giant, appears to be unchanged from its predecessor. Nonetheless, this implies that it will most likely be of high quality. The base Galaxy S22 will have a 6.1-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels (FHD+).

Meanwhile, the Galaxy S22+ and Galaxy S22 Ultra are expected to have larger 6.6-inch and 6.8-inch screens, respectively. These are also AMOLED 2X displays, though the Ultra model is expected to have a higher 1440 x 3200-pixel resolution (QHD+).

The new models, like the previous generation, would include at least 120Hz variable refresh rate support. Notably, this year’s Galaxy S22 Ultra variant will be slightly more defined. This means that its design will be distinct from the vanilla and Plus models.

It has straight edge corners like the original Note series, as well as support for the S Pen stylus, which will be housed within the smartphone’s body. The large camera island module will also be removed from the model, and the lenses will protrude directly from the rear panel.

Let’s start with the Galaxy S22 and S22+, which both have a triple camera module on the back. This includes a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 10-megapixel telephoto sensor with at least 3x optical zoom. Both smartphones will also include a 10-megapixel selfie camera housed in a punch-hole cutout on the front.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra will be available in a high-end version with a 108-megapixel Super Clear lens and OIS support. It also has a 10-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x zoom and a second 10-megapixel telephoto sensor with 10x zoom. The final sensor is a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera. This model’s selfie camera is a 40-megapixel sensor housed in a punch-hole cutout.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus Black Leak

The Galaxy S22 series, as a premium grade flagship series, is expected to use Qualcomm’s latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC or its own Exynos 2200 chipset. The availability of the two chip variants, however, would be market-dependent.

Storage options may include 128GB and 256GB models. Similarly, the Ultra will be available in the same RAM and storage configurations, but its storage capacity is expected to be limited to 512GB.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra is powered by a large 5,000mAh battery pack, while the Galaxy S22 has a 3,700mAh battery capacity and the Plus model has a 4,500mAh battery pack.

According to our most recent report, the base model will only support 25W fast charging. The Galaxy S22+ and Galaxy S22 Ultra will reportedly support 45W fast charging. Wireless charging is expected to be supported by all models. In terms of software, the devices will most likely run OneUI 4, which is based on Android 12.

Pricing and launch

Rumor has it that the Galaxy S22 series will start at $899 USD for the vanilla variant. The higher-end Galaxy S22+ is expected to cost $1,099 USD, while the Ultra is expected to cost $1,299 USD. These new smartphones will be unveiled by Samsung at its Galaxy Unpacked launch event next month.

The announcement date is set for February 9th, 2022, with availability details to be revealed at the same time. However, according to a separate report, Galaxy S22 Ultra deliveries could take up to three months due to delays. So stay tuned because we will be covering the launch event.
