We’ve seen Shahid Afridi with a bat and a ball, but an apron was the last thing we expected to see him wear. The cricketer’s latest project could be to open his own restaurant.
He posted a video of himself in a chef’s jacket slicing tomatoes and demonstrating his culinary skills. The cricketer is opening a restaurant in Dubai that will serve authentic cuisine to the city’s residents.
Afridi, who is currently playing for the Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League, announced the news with a video and the caption, “one step closer to the big announcement.” He stated that he will reveal additional information very soon.
“Get ready to give your taste buds a mouthwatering triple Tarka,” Afridi wrote in his post, which included hashtags for his restaurant, Lala Darbar.
According to the cricketer’s business page, it is an “authentic desi restaurant chain.” Details such as the location and menu have yet to be revealed.
Of course, a restaurant run by an athlete will have a nod to the athlete’s love of cricket, as evidenced by the restaurant’s logo. His famous victory pose made it onto the restaurant’s banner, but the menu, the names of the dishes, and whether or not they will be named after him are always the most intriguing parts. Will there be a Lala karahi with a side of Boom naan?
Afridi also has a skincare line called Ooh Lala, which is marketed as a high-quality line with high-quality personal care products. He also owns the Hope Not Out clothing line, which sells leisurewear for both men and women.
Afridi isn’t the only Pakistani athlete who has dabbled in the food industry. Inzamam Ul Haq, Saeed Anwar, and Shoaib Malik have also dabbled in the food industry. Haq and Anwar own Meat One, a meat store that sells fresh and healthy meat, while Malik owns The Rice Bowl, a restaurant in Lahore that serves comfort food.
