Punjab Govt directs introducing need based posts in govt depts

The Punjab government directed that need-based positions be established in government departments and that recruitment be conducted accordingly, rather than recruiting on already approved seats.

The Finance Department and the Planning and Development Board will review all sanctioned seats in all government departments to ensure their necessity and requirements.

However, profitable semi-government companies and authorities that cover their expenses with their own funds will be allowed to hire as needed. However, before hiring, government-funded businesses will be required to approve new positions. The notification of the recruitment ban will be reviewed, and recruitments for approved key positions will be exempted from the ban.

During the meeting, various departments made over ten demands. The meeting approved Safe City Authority recruitment at the request of the Home Department, as well as the Water Supply Scheme for Tehsil Issa Khel of the irrigation department.

The meeting also approved a Rs 10.74 million supplementary budget for the recruitment of psychology specialists for the establishment of Psycho Socio Centers, as well as service charges for food supplies to Ehsas programs.

The agenda item concerning the construction of the Rawalpindi Ring Road was tabled until the next meeting for further clarification, whereas the agenda item concerning the procurement of number plates for the Excise and Taxation Department was approved for discussion in the Cabinet Committee.
