We reported on various rumors about Google’s first foldable smartphone back in 2021. However, the most recent reports on the foldable Pixel suggested that the device was no longer in development. However, it shows that this may no longer be the case.
According to Ross Young of DSCC, Google has apparently revived its foldable smartphone project. The Pixel Fold’s display will now go into production in the third quarter of this year, according to the company. Ross Young went on to say that the device will be available in the fourth and final quarter of 2022. Aside from these timelines, the tweet did not reveal any additional information about this upcoming handset.
We do, however, have some information based on previous reports. According to reports, the Pixel Fold will have an LTPO OLED display with a variable refresh rate of up to 120Hz. It was expected to have a 12.2 megapixel Sony IMX363 sensor on the back, as well as a 12 megapixel Sony IMX386 sensor for an ultra-wide-angle lens and two 8 megapixel Sony IMX355 sensors.
The Android 12L operating system is also included. Unfortunately, this is still an unconfirmed report, so take it with a grain of salt and stay tuned for updates as more information becomes available.
