Pakistan Likely to Hike Electricity Price by Rs6.10 Per Unit

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has received a petition requesting an increase in electricity prices of Rs6.10 per unit due to variations in fuel costs in January 2022.


The application was submitted by the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA), and it will be heard by Nepra on February 28.

The CPPA informed the regulatory body that coal accounted for 33.15 percent of power generation during the month, with 5.83 percent coming from hydel, 6.73 percent from diesel, 14.07 percent from furnace oil, 14.37 percent from local gas, 7.12 percent from Liquified Natural Gas (LNG), 14.37 percent from atomic power, and 2.22 percent coming from wind.
