How to Get an International Driving License in Pakistan

Applicants must first get valid national driving licenses issued by the city traffic police. To obtain one, go to any traffic licensing center, but keep in mind that an international license will be issued by the same licensing center that issued the applicant’s corresponding local driving license.

There is also no waiting period, as citizens who have just received their domestic driving licenses can apply for the international whenever they want.

It is strongly advised to book an appointment with the Punjab IT Board in advance via the Rasta App. The app is available for download from both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.

Applicants can book an appointment and choose the nearest licensing center to visit after filling out the CNIC information and required details. They can choose their preferred time slots and the purpose of their visit from a list.

The app can also be used to schedule appointments for everything from getting a learner’s permit to getting a national or international driver’s license.

Filling the Application Form

Applicants must obtain an application form from the licensing center, which is provided free of charge. It must be completed and accompanied by the following documents:

  • Two passport-sized photographs, both attested.
  • A photocopy of a valid CNIC that has been attested.
  • A photocopy of the candidate’s passport is required.
  • A photocopy of the applicant’s current national driver’s license.
  • Certificate of health (if applicable, for age 50 and above).
  • The District Court issued an Rs. 66 ticket.
  • A fee voucher worth Rs. 450 must be submitted at a Habib Bank Limited (HBL) branch.

Please keep in mind that the urgent procedure may incur an additional fee.

To avoid inconvenience, applicants must also bring their original NICs and passports, as well as their original local driving license.

The process of applying for an international driving license directly takes much longer than applying for one with a local driving license, which involves home delivery of the international license within 24 hours.

In the unlikely event that the delivery of the license is delayed for more than 24 hours, applicants can visit the same licensing center to obtain the newly issued international driving license.

Because it contains almost all of the individual’s information, an international driver’s license can also be used as identification in many foreign countries. If a person loses their ID card or needs to obtain a new one, the international license allows them to continue with their normal activities while they wait.

However, it is only temporary and does not replace the need for a proper ID card, especially in a foreign country with strict laws.

Before traveling to another country, Pakistani tourists can apply for an international driving license. It will make it easier for them to rent and drive cars. Furthermore, after a visa, the international driving license is the most important component for Pakistanis who relocate to work.
