On March 7, 2022, Master Changan will finally launch the Oshan X7 Plus SUV in Pakistan. The car was supposed to make its debut in February, but it was postponed for unknown reasons.
“Last time I spoke to you was almost a year ago and I am humbled to have your attention again,” Changan CEO Danial Malik said in a small teaser video shared on the company’s social media accounts, referring to last year’s Alsvin launch. What’s more intriguing is that the Oshan X7 will be unveiled in Pakistan for the first time.
Local production of the Oshan X7 began in February, with locally assembled units rolling off Changan’s assembly lines in Karachi. Changan is once again leading the way by starting to roll off the vehicle before the official launch.
This is, without a doubt, a better way to launch a vehicle than collecting reservations without having ready-to-go local production. Changan describes the X7 as a “Disruption in Pakistan’s SUV Segment,” and hopes it will cause a stir in the market.
In terms of dimensions, the Oshan X7 Plus is a beefed-up version of the Oshan X7 and can be compared to the Toyota Fortuner and third-generation Kia Sorento. The X7 Plus will be available in 5-seat and 7-seat configurations to meet the needs of a wide range of customers.
Changan has yet to reveal the vehicle’s official specs and other details, but according to reports, it will be loaded with features and safety equipment. Danial Malik has already given us a hint of what the Oshan X7 will have to offer in an interview with Business Recorders. He stated,
“The Changan Oshan has a Euro-VI engine, and it will be Pakistan’s first Euro-VI SUV.” Second, it is kitted with advanced autonomous technology, which is being introduced for the first time in Pakistan. We have been testing autonomous driving at level 3 and have introduced autonomous technology that is compatible with Pakistani roads as a result of this rigorous testing. This will not only make driving more enjoyable, but it will also make it much safer.”
The X7 Plus will be powered by Changan’s latest 1.5L turbocharged engine from the newest Blue Whale engine series, which produces 188 hp and 300 Nm of torque while achieving a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 8.23 seconds and a claimed fuel economy of 14 km per liter, which is comparable to any conventional sedan.
Changan will be in a better position to deliver the vehicle on time because local production has already begun prior to the formal launch, compared to other players who are experiencing significant delays in deliveries. We’ll have to wait and see if the Oshan X7 receives the same positive response as the Alsvin.
