The Punjab School Education Department is considering reducing school hours by two hours during Ramadan.
On Wednesday, the department held a meeting in which the proposal to reduce school hours by two hours during Ramadan was discussed.
During the meeting, it was suggested that during Ramadan, girls’ schools be open from 7:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., and boys’ schools are open from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Both boys’ and girls’ schools currently begin at 8:00 a.m. and end at 2:30 p.m. and 2:45 p.m., respectively.
If approved, the new timings will take effect on the first of Ramadan.
Regarding the change in timings, the education department has sought the opinion of the education authorities. Following extensive consultation, a final notification will be issued.
