MG to Launch 3 Locally Assembled Vehicles Soon

So it appears that Pakistani car buyers will soon be able to purchase locally assembled MG vehicles. In a recent tweet, Javed Afridi stated that the locally assembled MG3, MG5, and MG Gloster will be available in Pakistan soon.

The tweet, which includes a video shared by Fakhr-e-Alam, takes us on a tour of MG’s plant, displaying various stages of the assembly process. This was just one of many videos Fakhr-e-Alam shared on Twitter showing various parts of MG’s assembly plant.

He emphasized the importance of proper facilitation, a conducive business environment, investment-friendly policies, and, above all, a fast, super-efficient bureaucracy in Pakistan. He went on to say that the plant can produce 100 vehicles per day, with a monthly output rate of 3,000 units.

MG had previously relied on imported CBU units but still managed to sell over 10,000 units of the MG HS, which is considered one of Pakistan’s most popular crossovers. However, following the increase in Regulatory Duty (RD) and Federal Excise Duty (FED) on CBU units earlier this year, the price of the MG HS has risen to PKR 8.9 million, putting it out of reach for the majority.

Regarding the vehicles mentioned by Javed Afridi, the MG3 is a hatchback, the MG5, also known as the MG GT, is a sporty sedan, and the Gloster is a 7-seat SUV similar to MG3 the Kia Sorento. The start of local production was a necessity, and with the addition of more models to the lineup, MG will be better positioned to face the fierce competition that is entering the market.
