Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has re-launched the English Access Micro Scholarship Programme in Gujranwala Region in collaboration with the US Consulate.
The goal of this initiative is to provide young people with access to education and employment opportunities through language teaching.
According to Dr. Saira Maqbool, the Programme Coordinator, the US Consulate in Lahore is funding this 2-year English Access Micro Scholarship Programme.
Following the successful completion of its first batch, AIOU has reintroduced this program.
After a written test and an interview, 100 students, 50 girls, and 50 boys were chosen from 800 applications.
This program is available to students in Gujranwala.
Classes will be held three times a week after school at the University’s Regional Campus in Gujranwala.
The program is free, and upon completion of the course, students will receive a US Certification.
Prof. Dr. Zia Ul-Qayyum, the Vice-Chancellor, has approved the purchase of 100 tablets for academic purposes for selected students.
He expressed his hope that the English Access Micro Scholarship Programme would highlight the ability of the next generation to compete and participate in higher education.
Dr. Qaiser Kazmi, Regional Director AIOU Gujranwala Campus, welcomed Dr. Muhammad Iqbal, US Consulate, and Programme Coordinators, Dr. Saira Maqbool and Samina Rana, who visited the regional campus to provide a detailed briefing.
