On Monday, the country’s state-run broadcaster fired an anchorperson who was part of a delegation of Pakistani-Americans visiting the Jewish state.
Marriyum Aurangzeb, the Federal Minister of Information and Broadcasting, announced the news, saying that PTV anchor Ahmed Quraishi had been fired and taken off the air. Quraishi visited Israel in a ‘personal capacity,’ she insisted.
The news comes as a result of Israeli President Isaac Herzog’s confirmation that he will meet with a delegation of Pakistani expatriates in Israel.

Issac stated that he recently received a delegation of Pakistani ex-pats. He praised the visiting members, saying it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity because Israel has never seen such a large group of Pakistani leaders.
The Israeli president, on the other hand, did not reveal the names of the delegation’s members, though a photo of the event that included Ahmed Qureshi as a member of the delegation went viral.
Quraishi, a Middle East expert, was recently appointed to host a show on state-run television. According to him, all Israelis have “nothing against Muslims, and they respect Muslims.”
Pakistan’s Foreign Office also denied that any official Pakistani delegation visited the Jewish state, claiming that the trip was organized by a non-Pakistani NGO.
According to the spokesperson, Islamabad’s position on the Palestinian issue is clear and unambiguous, and there has been no change in our policy, which has received complete national support.
He also continued to provide assistance. Pakistan has consistently backed Palestinians’ inalienable right to self-determination.
