The US Embassy in Islamabad has announced that Pakistanis wishing to travel to the United States on student, exchange, working, and company visas will be exempt from the interview.
A statement issued by the US Embassy in Pakistan on Tuesday said that the purpose of the visa exemption for travelers is to facilitate the issuance of visas and ensure their timely issuance.

However, the embassy also said that under US law, some visa-eligible individuals may be called in for an interview even after submitting a visa application.
