TikTok Introduces New Features For Safer, More Enhanced User Experience

TikTok, a platform for sharing short videos, has launched new features for a better and safer user experience. The new features are intended to provide viewers with additional opportunities to discover fresh material and personalize their viewing experiences.

The Chinese tech giant has launched four new features to enhance the user experience: Popular Feed, a non-personalized feed of trending material suitable for users 13 and older; Keyword mute, the ability to filter content from For You feeds using certain terms or hashtags; Reset, a feature that lets you clear off the suggestions in your For You feed; Dispersion, an expansion of TikTok’s testing to diversify and secure recommendations internationally.

The video platform also intends to roll out a levels-based system for categorizing content. It is a technique for categorizing content that is frequently used by entertainment firms to determine how mature content is for audiences of various ages or with varying comfort levels for certain subjects.

It is said to give an extra layer of security by identifying content that has made it past moderation.

“A maturity score will be given to the video to stop those under 18 from viewing it on the TikTok experience,” the platform said. “When the platform figures out that a video has mature or complex themes, for example, fictional scenes that may be too scary or intense for younger audiences.”
