The government’s tough stance on imports has caused instability in the Pakistani auto industry in recent months.
Numerous manufacturers, including Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC), were compelled to reduce production as a result of the letter of credit’s (LC) rejection in order to deal with the rising inflation.
Government import quotas have lately been lowered, allowing automakers to keep making and selling cars. According to the latest post on autojournal.pk, PSMC is once again accepting reservations, but only from corporate customers.
The company has only recently started accepting bookings for the following vehicles, according to the report:
- Wagon R VXR
- Wagon R VXL
- Cultus VXR
- Swift GL Manual
- Swift GL CVT
Accordingly, reservations for the Wagon R AGS, Cultus VXL, AGS, Swift GLX CVT, and all Alto models are still pending.
The report also notes that the company only has stock for a certain number of units and is still not running at full capacity. In September, it is predicted that PSMC will start accepting reservations for all types of vehicles and clients.
Kia Lucky Motor Corporation (KLMC) also started accepting reservations for its vehicles after deciding to keep the previously increased rates.
Bookings have resumed, which is a positive development for the local auto industry and will probably lead to positive sales in the upcoming months.
