Monsoon rains in Pakistan have caused substantial flooding in a number of cities. More than 900 people have died, and hundreds of thousands of homes have been damaged.
Relief is being given to the victims, and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has now made all calls in the affected areas free of charge.
All mobile service providers in Pakistan have recently been ordered by the telecom regulator to make calls to all flood-affected areas free of charge. The modification has already taken effect in Pakistan’s impacted regions, but it was only implemented this morning in Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In partnership with the federal and provincial governments, Jazz and other mobile operators will shortly make an official declaration about the distribution of aid to the impacted areas.
Here is Jazz’s official social media statement.
