Yamaha Offers Installment Plan On Bikes With 0% Markup

Interestingly, Yamaha Motor Pakistan provides an installment plan with a 0% markup for its motorcycles. According to company dealers, the customer can pay 50% of the total amount up front and the remaining balance over the course of four months.

The offer is only valid in a select number of cities, on limited bikes, and for a short period of time.

The company wrote the following on social media:

It is clear that Yamaha did not make this offer as a goodwill gesture; rather, it may be due to low sales, which Yamaha hopes to increase with this offer. The company sold only 2,503 units in the last two months, according to data from the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA), which is a significant decrease from the 3,985 bikes sold in the same period last year.

The continual price increases by Yamaha are the second, and possibly main, factor. Only since 2022 has the company raised bike prices four times. This year, the average price of a Yamaha motorcycle increased by 50,000 to 60,000 rupees, which is a significant increase in just 7-8 months.

All Yamaha bikes now cost more than Rs. 250,000 as a result of these increases, making them truly out of the price range of the average person. For daily use, the majority of people in Pakistan cannot afford such expensive bikes.

The Yamaha bikes were also offered for sale on “ON Money” in the neighborhood. According to our research from March 2022,

The YBR (simple sports variant) came with an Rs 8,000 premium. The YBR 125 G & Grey costs Rs. 10,000 in contrast.

Additionally, the premium for YBZ and DX was Rs. 8,000 with a 1-month delivery window.

However, it appears that the bubble has now burst, and the business is having trouble selling them.
