In the honor of Arshad Sharif, Imran Khan, a former prime minister and the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has announced that his administration will establish a journalism institution in Punjab in his honor.
During his speech to the participants of the PTI-long march in Lahore, he made this announcement.
The Arshad Sharif Shaheed University of Journalism, he continued, will be the name of the institution (ASSUJ). Aside from that, Arshad Sharif and the media sector were honored during PTI’s “Haqeeqi Azadi” long march.
It is important to remember that Arshad Sharif was killed close to Nairobi, Kenya, as a result of what is known as “mistaken identity” on the part of the Kenyan Police.
Following this, regional and global organizations, including Reporters Without Borders (RSF), dismissed the reported claims made by Kenyan police over the slaying of the well-known Pakistani journalist.
